Amazon Mining Watch

Developed through a partnership between Amazon Conservation, Earth Genome, and the Pulitzer Center, Amazon Mining Watch is a one-stop shop for data and policy information, integrating timely detection of new mining areas using AI and machine learning with land designation data to help users assess whether an activity is likely unauthorized or illegal. It also combines an economic impact assessment tool, developed by the Conservation Strategy Fund (CSF), that estimates the socio-environmental costs of mining damage. Updated quarterly and enriched with case studies and policy briefs, the initiative counts on more than 10 partner organizations across the Amazon to strengthen on-the-ground vetting of data, advocacy campaigns, and enforcement efforts. This platform is advancing transparent and effective governance of gold mining across the region.

Amazon Targets Tracker

Developed by Amazon Conservation, the Amazon Targets Tracker provides key insights and analysis into the status of climate and conservation targets of 8 Amazonian countries across 3 major international conventions (Minamata Convention on Mercury, Convention on Biological Diversity, and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change), enabling media and citizens to hold governments accountable to their commitments.

ObservaREDD+

Developed by our Brazilian partners at Instituto Centro de Vida (ICV), ObservaREDD+ provides transparent and accessible data on the efforts of Amazonian states to combat deforestation and promote sustainable development, in order to empower researchers, policymakers, and the public with the information needed to track progress, ensure accountability, and support the conservation of the Amazon. The platform allows users to explore key dimensions of REDD+ implementation, including governance frameworks, deforestation reduction targets, and the crucial role of transparency and social participation. Amazon Conservation contributes vital policy analysis available in the platform.

Harnessing Science, Technology, and Collaboration to Protect the Amazon

At Amazon Conservation, we are transforming how the world monitors, understands, and safeguards the Amazon by leveraging the latest advances in science, geospatial technology, machine learning, and artificial intelligence (AI). Our technical platforms provide transparent, data-driven insights that strengthen environmental governance, empower civil society, and support more effective policy and advocacy across the region.

Through collaborative innovation with leading research institutions, scientists, journalists, and local partners, these tools help detect emerging threats, track national and regional commitments, and illuminate the pathways toward a more sustainable Amazon. Together, they equip policymakers, communities, the media, and the general public with trusted information to drive accountability and informed action.

Explore three of our flagship platforms that put cutting-edge technology to work for conservation.
