Amazon Conservation partnered with the Universidad Amazónica de Pando (UAP) and the regional government of Pando to manage and protect 7,680 acres of the Tahuamanu Research Station in Bolivia. Recent field research conducted by experts, such as Dr. Leila Porter from North Illinois University, have shown the importance of biodiversity levels in this forest patch, at the confluence of two important rivers, Tahumanu and Myomanu. Given the biological significance of this area, Amazon Conservation and its partners, have worked closely to recognize this research station and its surrounding area as a heritage site in Bolivia. This status allows for greater protection and recognition of the area.
